One of the most popular options available with today's French door market is the innovation of operable sidelights.  With this unique feature you can have the best of both worlds by leaving your French door securely locked and still have the benefit of a nice breeze coming into your home.

Most of the top brands of Window and Doors have come out with their version of the French door with operable sidelights.  Most are similar but have slight differences.  Always consider getting the sidelights with a multi-locking system.  Multi-point locking systems are very secure and will help keep the door straight and operating correctly for many years to come.

Extend your living space to make a great room even greater!

The easiest way to update your home and make it a great place for entertaining is to replace your French door or sliding door unit and install a Bi-Folding door.  Bi-Folding doors can be designed in a multitude of ways that can help optimize your living area.  Typically they are designed to have one "Active Door" which you will use to enter or leave your home on a regular basis.  The other portion of the door system will fold up and slide in one direction and open up the entire room.

Folding doors can open either outward or inward but will require some space for the doors to swing without being in the way.

5 biggest advantages of fiberglass doors near the beach

6/4/2015

Fiberglass doors are made to withstand even the harshest environments including the corrosive salt air that constantly surrounds homes within a few miles of every beach city.  Here are the 5 biggest reasons to consider using a fiberglass door for all of the exterior doors in your home:
  • Fiberglass doors will not absorb water like a typical wood entry door.  This means the door will not expand and contract causing it to warp and crack and eventually fail.
  • A steel entry door is very susceptible to rust and if you are withing 5 miles of the ocean you can count on this happening to your steel door.  Once the rusting starts it will continue until your door falls apart.  Fiberglass will never rust or dent like it's steel counterpart but instead will give many years of beauty and ease of use.
  • Is your current door a termite buffet?  You won't have to worry about termites with a new fiberglass door with a composite jamb.  The little nuisances won't find an entry way into your home via any of the door systems you have in your home.
  • Glass and fiberglass are very similar in their composition and as a result they act the same.  They will expand and contract at very similar rates.  How is this a benefit?  It will mean that you will have less seal failure in your insulated glass panels in your door.  That means you will have less fogging between the glass panels and a longer life span for your door.
  • Fiberglass comes in many styles and textures.  If it has a wood grain look to it you can paint it or stain it just like you would a wood entry door.  Fiberglass also comes in a smooth finish and will accept a quality paint giving a professional looking painted door.  Also, dark colors won't damage the door like they will a wood or steel door.  Have you ever touched a steel door that has been painted black and faces the sun all day long?  You could fry an egg on it.  You won't have that issue with a fiberglass door.  The fiberglass doors will not absorb heat like a wood or steel door will.
